I didn’t follow it so much, but ever since I got myself a new fancy machine that can run all the latest games without problems, I stumbled across Games for Windows. A pleasant surprise, to me, was that I could log in with my Xbox Live account when playing PC games supported by this system.
That way, I can stay close to my ‘box friends and… REPLAY FALLOUT 3 on full specs! Those knowing me are not surprised now.
While I mention Fallout, I need to show youse the present my Love gave me for Christmas:

Spent Christmas in a nice little flat near Heidelberg, eating, reading and relaxing. After a couple of days of literally doing nothing, I felt a bit restless, until, that is, my girl found an ethernet cable in the flat (we never really asked about internet) and I was able to check out Steam sales on my old Laptop. I found the X-Com package, a compilation of five X-Com games, for something like 5 €!
Now, PC gamers of the 90s will know especially the first part (then not known as X-Com) — UFO: Enemy Unknown. It is also referred to as UFO Defense, but nevermind that. Enemy Unkown is the real deal. Released in early 90s, the game still holds up pretty well. As was the case with many a classic of that time, it is unforgiving as hell. One mistake during the turn-based combat after shooting down a UFO, and your men are killed, taken control of by aliens or just going berserk shooting their own men in the process. Another example: The United Kingdom has just signed a treaty with the aliens to allow their activities and withdrew their funding of over 1 million $ although I intercepted all UFOs in the area from my near-by base of Włocławek!
In the meanwhile, you struggle to collect alien artefacts and shuffle your budgets to afford scientists and labs to research them and engineers and workshops to produce better equipment.

And so it came, that I spent Christmas holidays intercepting alien UFOs, fighting aliens and finding the secret alien base to kill the Alien Queen! I am close to it, only need to catch an alien commander to interrogate him to find out the base’s location.
Pikmin are the most adorable creatures, I think. The game is great, too! Pikmin 2, recently newly adapted to the Wii, is a must-buy. Get 20 Pikmin of each colour and listen.
Die ersten paar Tage mit dem Pedometer in der Tasche sind vorbei. Das Fazit? Mein Lebensrhythmus ist noch unregelmäßiger als ich mir das vorgestellt hätte.
Nehmen wir den gestrigen Sonntag als Beispiel: Mickrige 1500 Schritte habe ich an diesem Tag geschafft… und wurde prompt mit einer Schildkröte verglichen! Na ja, immer noch besser als ein Koala, oder?
Das Bemerkenswerte dabei ist, Weggehen, also nicht nur “gesundes” Weggehen, wirkt sich durchaus positiv auf den Schrittdurchschnitt aus. Das hängt freilich damit zusammen, dass ich dann das Auto stehen lasse, teils aus Mangel an Parkplätzen im Nordend, teils weil ich dann ja auch trinke. Der Spaziergang zum Ort des Geschehns und zurück ist dann meistens schon die halbe, wenn nicht die ganze Miete zum Erreichen des Schrittziels.
Ist gesund für den Lebensrhythmus!
Dieses lag zu Beginn bei 3000 Schritten. Das war jedoch zu einfach und wir haben es verdoppelt.
Ich habe soeben ein Pedometer von meiner Liebsten erhalten. Zwei davon sind im Lieferumfang von Laufrhythmus DS enthalten, das sie sich kürzlich zugelegt hat.
Dann mal sehen, wie aktiv ich bin. Ich laufe ja morgens und meistens auch abends zum Büro meines Auftraggebers, bei dem ich ab heute wieder unterschrieben habe. Das ist schon mal nicht schlecht. Was den Rest anbelangt, nun ja…
Ein paar kleine Auswertungen folgen also in dieser Sparte und enthüllen ein für alle Mal, was für ein Couch-Potato ich doch bin…
My Brute brute Wrayfield is doing well. Though the site keeps crashing and frustrates me and my pupils, some of whom stopped playing it, I am not giving up. Meanwhile, thanks to my pupils and numerous victories, I am at level 11.

John Madden has retired today as a broadcaster. The Hall of Fame coach will still be featured in Madden NFL video games, and contribute to them, I suppose. I know he’s annoying and Mr Obvious, but I still like him. I’m sure everyone will miss him next season.
